Self Care Is Shi##y!

Yup. I said it. Self care is shi##y. This isn’t my own revolutionary statement. I picked up this nugget on the Financial Feminist podcast. And she’s totally right.
Self care isn’t about bubble baths (self-soothing), nonfat chai lattes (self-soothing and indulgent), or getting manis & pedis (totally Californian and again indulgent).
Self care is about doing the dirty shi#. Digging in and investing in the present and future You by doing the things that aren’t super sexy or IG worthy… think salads instead of pizza, communicating thoughts and feelings in a constructive way, setting boundaries, making & sticking to a budget. All of these things and more are difficult to do especially if you are in a culture where these aren’t the norms. And no, I’m not just talking about women, men also have problems in these areas.
Health coaching is a way to build self care practices- non-violent communication, setting boundaries, better nutrition, mindfulness, budgeting, etc.- and live life focused on your values and your 'why,' and not have to worry & stress over the 'whats.'
